Our Recreational Therapy (RT) program strives to implement and facilitate inclusive and specialized recreation and leisure pursuits that provide opportunities for members of all abilities and backgrounds to recreate together. Our team of Student Staff, Volunteers, and a Nationally Certified Recreational Therapist work together to provide a multitude of inclusive and specialized recreation and leisure opportunities for groups and individuals.
Special Olympics Virtual College Week
Virtual College Championship Week is a national level competition held by Special Olympics Unified Sports and ESPN to promote inclusion on our campus community. The Recreational Therapy Department has entered Sac State as Team Sac State to complete various virtual inclusive activities to show how us here at The WELL is working to provide inclusive activities for all of our community members. Most of our activities have been completed with our participants from our Unified All-In Recreation program here at The WELL. We want to showcase how Sac State is working towards inclusion on our campus and we need the help of our community members too.

Below you can find our campus VIPs to take the Special Olympics Sports Inclusion Pledge in order to spread awareness and to pledge to ensure that no one individual is left out from any sport or activity. The campus VIPs were asked to take the pledge as well to showcase how Sac State Faculty is committed to inclusion and the growth of inclusion on the Sac State Campus. Therapeutic Group Recreation
Therapeutic Group Recreational provides opportunities for participants that support a balanced and active life by providing programming that focuses on the 7 Dimensions of Wellness ultimately increasing their quality of life. Offerings include but are not limited to the below programs.
The Outdoor WELLness series provides free opportunities for the CSUS community to engage in holistic wellness activities. Offerings will rotate every few weeks between inclusive wellness activities, including yoga, tai chi, mindfulness practices, and nature engagement practices. Sessions offered will be evidence-based for promoting mental, emotional, physical, and social wellbeing. The focus of these sessions is to connect students, faculty, staff, and administrators through easy-to-learn, easy-to-access practices for developing healthy stress reduction habits.

Practice awareness of the present moment intentionally and without judgment. Mindfulness meditation practices refer to the deliberate acts of regulating attention through the observation of thoughts, emotions, and body states.

Get a head start this semester by joining our Semester Prep Workshop! This workshop will help you gain skills needed to skillfully balance your time, so that you can work to create a sense of balance in the semester. Look for these workshops within the first three weeks of each semester.
