Construction for the Sac State Event Center in The WELL will begin Fall semester 2024. The project will renovate the existing Gym Box space to accommodate spectators for future Sacramento State Athletics games and other events.
During this construction project, members will not have access to the Gym Box. Some programs and additional spaces within our facility will be impacted.
We will keep you updated on the progress of the project through communication via email, signage in the facility, and our website. Please read through the FAQ below, which will be updated along with any other project updates, at a later time. If you have any additional questions, comments or feedback, please use the online form.
FAQ
Will the construction project impact access to the facility?
While certain parts of the facility will be impacted, general building access will remain open during traditional business hours.
What space will be impacted during construction?
Access to the Gym Box will be restricted during construction. The Gym Box is the 4-sport court space within The WELL where we offer Informal Rec basketball, volleyball, badminton, pickleball as well as other programs and events.
Will the construction project affect the indoor track?
Access may be impacted during certain times and phases of the project.
Will this space be for recreational use after completion?
Yes, campus recreation will have access to the space after completion.
Where can I play basketball/badminton/volleyball?
Informal Rec sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, and pickleball will not be available in the Gym Box once construction begins. However, we will have these Informal Rec activities as well as Informal Rec indoor soccer, Intramural Sports and Rec Therapy programs share the MAC (Multi-use Activity Court). Once we have a start date and schedule of these programs, we will be sharing with all of our students and members.
