Recreational Therapy The Recreational Therapy (RT) Department at The WELL provides inclusive and specialized programming based on the 7 Dimensions of Wellness. We use activity-based interventions to support a balanced and active life among our participants. Our services include group recreation, individualized sessions with a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, and accommodations for students with disabilities. Conference Room Layouts Reservation Requests Reserve space at The WELL for your next event! Reservation Information All reservation requests must be made at least one week in advance. The WELL facility reservation staff typically will respond within two business days to all inquiries. Reservations are made through OPUS! If you have an existing OPUS account, and need to add The WELL as a location for reservations, please email us to have your account updated. Include the account name you use to log into OPUS, so we can quickly update your account in our system. To use OPUS on a wireless connection, you must be logged into Global Protect. If you are using a hard wired connection and are not able to connect to OPUS directly, you may also need to login to Global Protect. https://www.csus.edu/information-resources-technology/global-protect-vpn/ Submit a Reservation Contact Us Tours and Accommodations Tours can be arranged to view the available WELL space prior to making a reservation. Climbing

Reach New Heights Welcome to the Rock Climbing Wall at The WELL. All members can climb at the WELL, regardless of experience. We have qualified staff to help assist you, and routes ranging from beginner to advanced. Routes typically change every 2 months. Climbing shoes and harnesses are provided. We also sell chalk at the Equipment Desk for an affordable rate. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber's strength, endurance, agility and balance along with mental control. Come visit one of our staff or see the orientation video below to get started! Bouldering is allowed during all WELL hours. The Safety Orientation below is required before the first time you climb. Top Rope Hours** Monday-Friday: 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm Saturday: 10:00 am-3:00 pm Family Climb: select Saturdays from 10:00 am-3:00 pm **Hours subject to change due to holidays and adjusted facility hours. Climbing Safety Orientation Members are required to complete a safety orientation before their first time climbing at The WELL. This safety orientation serves as your all-access pass to bouldering in our facility. After completing it, you are free to rent shoes and boulder in our gym any time that the WELL is open. The orientation also allows you to participate in top rope climbing with our staff during staffed top rope hours. You must earn a score of 100% on the Orientation Quiz below after watching our video! You are welcome to take the test as many times as you need to or see a Climbing Wall Attendant to complete an orientation in-person. Ashlyn Tamayo

Role at The WELL: Coordinator, Marketing Strategy and Outreach, responsible for The WELL’s comprehensive marketing strategy—including digital, print, social media, and engagement. Pronouns: She/They Background/Education: Ashlyn attended Sac State for their undergrad, where they received their Bachelor's of Science in Recreation Administration. During this time, she worked at The WELL's Fitness Desk, as well as the role of student supervisor of staff development. Upon graduating, Ashlyn had an internship with Walt Disney Studios in Southern California, and later worked with the American Cancer Society in the North Bay. After a couple years away, Ashlyn returned to Sacramento, where she worked with lululemon focusing on guest experience and digital engagement, along with pop-up events. She's excited to bring her energy and experience back to The WELL at Sac State. Fun Fact: Ashlyn had the opportunity to attend red carpet premieres for Pixar's Inside Out and Marvel's Ant-Man. We host a variety of events each semester to keep you moving! Facility Tours

Experience The WELL The WELL offers guided tours to large groups, small groups, and individuals. We do provided tours on a walk-in basis, however, we recommend prescheduling your tour to avoid a long waiting period. Tours typically last between 5 - 15 minutes. Individuals on a tour must stay with the group the entire time, and are not authorized to use equipment or take photos inside the facility. Large Tours The WELL provides large tours to school groups, clubs, organizations, and campus visitors. A large tour is classified as 11 or more individuals. Each tour guide can accomodate 25 individuals per tour. If your group has more than 25 people we will separate them into groups. Please indicate the size and demographic (children, teenagers, college students, or adults) of your group. We request large tours to be scheduled at least one week in advance. Schedule a Large Tour Small Tours A small tour is classified as between 1 - 10 individuals. Small tours provide a more intimate experience, and allow patrons to ask details questions. Small tours are available to potential students, alumni, affiliates, current students, and campus visitors. Please indicate the size and demographic (children, teenagers, college students, or adults) of your group. We request small tours to be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Schedule a Small Tour Specialized Tours Groups interested in learning about the WELL's LEED certification can schedual a specalized tour. The Well is a LEED Green Building project. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is governed by the U.S. Green Building Council. There are several levels of LEED certification that a project can achieve: Basic, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Andrew Reddish

Role at The WELL: The Director oversees all programs, operations, and staff. They work in collaboration with Student Health and Counseling Services and other campus partners to advocate our mission of “Lifetime Wellness Through Collaboration, Education, and Innovation”. Pronouns: He, Him, His Background/Education: Andrew has been working in Campus Recreation since 2007 and is truly Made in the CSU, having experience from four different California State Universities. Andrew is a former collegiate athlete, has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Sonoma State University, an M.B.A. in Marketing Management from Cal Poly Pomona and formerly served as the Northern California State Director for NIRSA. Andrew began his career at San Diego State University working for Aztec Recreation and moved to Sacramento in 2014. Additionally, Andrew is a lecturer in the Recreation, Parks & Tourism Administration (RPTA) academic department. Fun Fact: Andrew is one of the biggest Frank Sinatra fans you will ever meet. Role at The WELL: Kendra coordinates the Group Fitness classes, programs, and special events. Background/Education: Kendra has over 30 years of working in the Recreation & Fitness Industry both as a student and a professional in corporate and campus recreation programs. She holds national certifications through the American Council on Exercise (ACE Fitness) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Clarissa Jimenez

Role at The WELL: Clarissa provides management for all fitness operations and programs including personal training, group fitness, fitness desk staff, and fitness equipment. Background/Education: Clarissa attended San Diego State for her undergraduate degree, and earned her M.S in Kinesiology, Integrative Wellness from Point Loma Nazarene University. While in San Diego, she worked in a variety of health and wellness settings as a Personal Trainer and ultimately ended her time in that area as a Study Coach for the American Council on Exercise. Clarissa started her journey with Sacramento State University in 2019 and her favorite part of working at The WELL is connecting and building relationships with the students. JD Dimalanta

Role at The WELL: Coordinator, Fitness Operations and Personal Training - responsible for managing the operations of the Fitness Desk and Personal Training teams. Pronouns: He/Him Background/Education: JD completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics, followed by an Associate and Master’s Degree in Physical Education at the University of the Philippines. He worked as an assistant professor for 7 years at the same university, teaching sport sociology, sport history, fitness, and dance. After moving to the U.S., he worked in the Bay Area as a fitness professional in various gyms, studios, and corporate fitness centers, including Intuit and Google. Ben Rezentes-Hall

Role at The WELL: The Coordinator of Climbing and Group Facilitation at The WELL oversees the management of climbing wall operations and leads team-building programs, ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for participants. Pronouns: He, Him, His Background/Education: Ben’s journey with climbing and group facilitation started at age 15, when he started climbing at Granite Arch, his local climbing gym, fell in love with the sport, and almost immediately got a job there. During his time working, climbing, and connecting with the community there, he found a passion for creating impactful experiences for participants in the youth programs. In 2020, he started attending Sac State in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration to hone his craft. After graduation, he took over management of the Youth Programs department at Granite Arch. After two years of management at Granite Arch, he resigned and spent several months living on the road and exploring the many desert climbing destinations of the American Southwest. Upon his return, Ben took everything he had learned from his journey so far and brought it to The WELL. Erica Wood

Role at The WELL: Erica provides management for the following areas: special events, event services, equipment desk, informal recreation, and the climbing wall. Background/Education: Erica has over ten years of experience working in events and campus recreation from three Universities, multiple community colleges, and Olympic Sports; and managing large-scale endurance race events throughout the United States, known as the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. Erica has her Master’s of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado and her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University.
