Role at The WELL: Clarissa provides management for all fitness operations and programs including personal training, group fitness, fitness desk staff, and fitness equipment. Background/Education: Clarissa attended San Diego State for her undergraduate degree, and earned her M.S in Kinesiology, Integrative Wellness from Point Loma Nazarene University. While in San Diego, she worked in a variety of health and wellness settings as a Personal Trainer and ultimately ended her time in that area as a Study Coach for the American Council on Exercise. Clarissa started her journey with Sacramento State University in 2019 and her favorite part of working at The WELL is connecting and building relationships with the students. Andrew Reddish
Role at The WELL: The Director oversees all programs, operations, and staff. They work in collaboration with Student Health and Counseling Services and other campus partners to advocate our mission of “Lifetime Wellness Through Collaboration, Education, and Innovation”. Pronouns: He, Him, His Background/Education: Andrew has been working in Campus Recreation since 2007 and is truly Made in the CSU, having experience from four different California State Universities. Andrew is a former collegiate athlete, has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Sonoma State University, an M.B.A. in Marketing Management from Cal Poly Pomona and formerly served as the Northern California State Director for NIRSA. Andrew began his career at San Diego State University working for Aztec Recreation and moved to Sacramento in 2014. Additionally, Andrew is a lecturer in the Recreation, Parks & Tourism Administration (RPTA) academic department. Fun Fact: Andrew is one of the biggest Frank Sinatra fans you will ever meet. Ask him which songs are his favorites. Gabe Rendon
Role at The WELL: The Coordinator of Member Experience oversees all general customer service support including student membership activation and non-student membership management for faculty, staff, and alumni. The coordinator provides management for the following areas: Front Desk and Engagement Center. Pronouns: He, Him, His Background/Education: Gabe has nearly a combined decade of experience working in Campus Recreation as a student, intern, and full-time professional. Gabe received his Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences with an Emphasis in Food and Nutrition from Sacramento State University. Fun Fact: Gabe has hiked to the top of Mount Bierstadt a 14,065-foot-high mountain summit in the Rocky Mountains. Favorite thing to do at The WELL: Take a spin class! Steven Dasman
Role at The WELL: This position provides management and support to Intramural Sports, Recreational Therapy, Climbing and Group Facilitation. Pronouns: He/Him/His Background/Education: Steve received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from the University of New Hampshire in 2016. He worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) as well as a professional facilitator with organizations like Project Adventure in Beverly, MA, and Brooklyn Boulders (now Bouldering Project) in Somerville, MA. Prior to taking on this role at The WELL, Steve worked for seven years as the Program Manager with Waypoint Adventure, which is a non-profit in Lexington, MA that runs adventure education programs for people with disabilities (all ages/ability levels/demographics). Programs he led and oversaw included indoor/outdoor rock climbing, indoor/outdoor kayaking, snowshoeing, hiking, backpacking, tandem cycling, cross-country skiing, ropes course, and teambuilding. He also holds certifications with the American Mountain Guide Association (CWI), American Canoe Association (Level 2 Kayak Instructor), Association For Challenge Course Technology (Level 2 Ropes Course Facilitator), and Wilderness First Aid/CPR. Fun Fact: Prior to leaving Boston in 2023, Steve summitted all 48 4000’ footers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and hiked from Georgia to West Virginia on the Appalachian Trail (over 1000 miles). Will Hahn
Role at The WELL: Recreational Therapist, responsible for programming and implementing inclusive and adaptive recreation at The WELL – including adaptive sports, therapeutic horticulture, and unified sports. The Recreation Therapist also coordinates one-on-one sessions for Sac State students who want to develop a leisure-wellness plan that support one or more of the seven dimensions of wellness at The WELL. Pronouns: He/Him/His Background/Education: Will attended Sonoma State University for his undergraduate education, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Studies with a concentration in education. Upon graduating, Will decided to work in adult psychiatric care for nearly 5 years across two different mental health rehabilitation centers. During this time, he implemented and programmed therapeutic activities for individuals with psychiatric disabilities, eventually becoming a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in November of 2022. Fun Fact: Will really enjoys video games as a pastime and listens to a weekly PlayStation podcast, called Sacred Symbols. Erica Wood
Role at The WELL: Erica provides management for the following areas: special events, event services, equipment desk, informal recreation, and the climbing wall. Background/Education: Erica has over ten years of experience working in events and campus recreation from three Universities, multiple community colleges, and Olympic Sports; and managing large-scale endurance race events throughout the United States, known as the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. Erica has her Master’s of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado and her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University. Fun Fact: Erica has gone skydiving in New Zealand. Favorite thing to do at The WELL: Erica enjoys providing a variety of opportunities for members to get involved. Facility Tours
Experience The WELL The WELL offers guided tours to large groups, small groups, and individuals. We do provided tours on a walk-in basis, however, we recommend prescheduling your tour to avoid a long waiting period. Tours typically last between 5 - 15 minutes. Individuals on a tour must stay with the group the entire time, and are not authorized to use equipment or take photos inside the facility. Large Tours The WELL provides large tours to school groups, clubs, organizations, and campus visitors. A large tour is classified as 11 or more individuals. Each tour guide can accomodate 25 individuals per tour. If your group has more than 25 people we will separate them into groups. Please indicate the size and demographic (children, teenagers, college students, or adults) of your group. We request large tours to be scheduled at least one week in advance. Schedule a Large Tour Small Tours A small tour is classified as between 1 - 10 individuals. Small tours provide a more intimate experience, and allow patrons to ask details questions. Small tours are available to potential students, alumni, affiliates, current students, and campus visitors. Please indicate the size and demographic (children, teenagers, college students, or adults) of your group. We request small tours to be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Schedule a Small Tour Specialized Tours Groups interested in learning about the WELL's LEED certification can schedual a specalized tour. The Well is a LEED Green Building project. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is governed by the U.S. Green Building Council. There are several levels of LEED certification that a project can achieve: Basic, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Aquatics
…is kept around 80 degrees and the pool is cleaned weekly. Equipment such as kickboards, paddles, and leg pull buoys can be checked out through the guards on deck. There will always be two lifeguards guards on duty. To swim at the Long Pool, you must have either a valid OneCard or a valid pool pass. EVERYONE must check in with the guards EVERY TIME they swim.

JD Dimalanta

Informal Recreation Hours
Unstructured Opportunities to Play The Sports You Love The Informal Rec department offers unstructured opportunities to participate in sports and fitness activities, by providing the necessary space and equipment for free! It is the ideal alternative for those looking to stay in shape with a non-structured program at The WELL. Some of those activities include: badminton, basketball, racquetball, soccer and volleyball. Below is the general semester schedule, however the schedule is subject to change. Informal Recreation Schedule While the Gym Box is closed for the Event Center Project, all Informal Recreation will be held in the MAC Court. The schedule changes every week, click below for the upcoming schedule and/or consult the hallway monitors in The WELL. Self Defense
Feel Empowered Join us for this progressive 4-week program taught by retired CSUS police sergeant, defensive tactics trainer, and gang officer, Vic Vinson. He has a 2nd degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate, and Goju Ryu Karate, and has been a martial artist for over 30 years. He attended Krav Maga training in 1995, and P.O.S.T. defensive tactics training, to teach self-defense and street combative training. Self-defense builds on itself from week to week. Graduation was just the beginning The WELL offers a variety of membership options to Sac State Alumni. We encourage Alumni to stay connected with campus, and workout in our gym that they know and love for an affordable rate! WELL Alumni members must first become associated with campus by joining the Alumni Association. WELL Alumni membership does not include parking. In order to park on campus please purchase a parking pass through UTAPS, or a daily parking pass through the PaytoPark app. We encourage environmentally friendly alternative forms of transportation, such as bikes, scooters, Light rail, carpooling, etc. in order to save money on parking.
